We don't have to worry about her turning the volume too loud, since it tops out fairly low. She wanted one to be like her big sister, and it is great. She also "plays" with it like a real doll while listening so it is a good "toofer" as well. Great in the car/trips to keep the kids from fighting! Highly recommend this. You can transfer any music you want with ease, if you can't figure it out, try looking for help through google. My 8 year old daughter got this for Christmas. If you get one of these, don't pay more than $20 for it. As with most others she wanted it for the extra online stuff (a few extra items kids can "buy" with the B-bucks they earn playing games and "movies" on the site.), which is only good for a year from the time of registration. She has already lost the snap on pieces and the bottom of the player, and the buttons stick and skip over songs. On the positive side: it is very easy to get music onto it. It also has a clip on it so she clips it to a belt loop so she doesn't lose it or drop it. The earbuds it comes with have 3 different size "covers" so they will fit pretty much anyones ears. My daughter received this for her 5th Birthday, although I believe the target audience is a bit older. We have not used the online application yet, because I feel she's too young, but the MP3 player itself is cute, and my daughter loves it. It works well, she uses it all the time, and she loves the fact that she can change the look anytime she wants. I do wish it had a screen so I could immediately go to the album I want, but using the fast forward button to get to the song we want really isn't that much of a bother. Charging is easy, and downloading doesn't get much simpler. I bought one for my niece's 7th Birthday too, since we liked it so much. First let me say, this is was delivered within a timely manner. I purchased this for my daughter and a friend of mines grand daughter for Christmas, they are both 6.. They LOVE this toy. We were able to download music from the internet as well as from CD's. My six year old goes on the barbie girl website and loves it, she has made many friends. She loves the two songs that came with the BARBIE Girl and wouldn't trade it for the world. My daughter really wanted this for Christmas and didn't get it. She already has a really good mp3 player and I didn't think this was worth the money. So when it went on sale after Christmas I grabbed it for her 6th birthday. Now I only wish I had bought more than one. She absolutely loves this. It loads really quickly and sounds decent. She's dropped it more than once with no problem. She loves changing the look with the added fashion packs that she got. And she really likes the website. It's not quite as cool as Webkinz, but is different and a lot of fun. I would highly recommend this. Finally, an MP3 player that is perfect for girls of all ages who can't get enough of Barbie! First come, first served. customer 's review (Transformers The Movie (1986) is a beloved classic of mine) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Transformer (Cartoon)) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Great stroll down memory lane, good cartoon artwork, a little cheesy dialogue) ![]() ![]() ![]() (Didn't See it Twenty Years Ago, So Judging it Without Nostalgia) ![]() ![]() (Go drink napalm if you think that new trash trumps this!) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I was a HUGE fan of the Transformers (G1) when I was a kid and I'm no less of a fan of the series (and the movie) now than when it was released into the theaters back in 1986. However, the movie ended up being a DRAMATIC departure from the more "kid-friendly" TV series, as was made painfully clear during the first 30 minutes of the film when several beloved Autobot characters die VIOLENT deaths at the hands of Megatron and the Decepticons, including, most sadly, Optimus Prime. The main plot of the movie revolves around the struggle between the Transformers and a giant planet-eating monster named Unicron, who initially forms a tentative alliance with a dying Megatron, later rebuilt by Unicron into Galvatron (essentially Megatron with a new body), in order to help him destroy the Autobot Matrix of Leadership from the Autobot's new leader, Ultra Magnus, one of many new characters introduced in this film. In a plot somewhat derivative of Star Wars, one of the main characters ends up unlocking the power of the Matrix and leading the Autobots to victory against Unicron and the Decepticons. Although there are a small number of cheesy scenes in the movie (i.e. the characters dancing with the Junkions), the movie, by far, was extraordinarily entertaining and the first 30 minutes were simply spellbinding to watch starting with Unicron mercilessly devouring an entire planet, the Decepticons launching an all-out assault on the Autobots' new base on Earth, and Optimus Prime and Megatron finally having THE ULTIMATE FIGHT TO THE DEATH that I had long been waiting to see. The action in the movie is complemented by the excellent guest voice talents of Robert Stack, Judd Nelson, Lionel Stander, LEONARD NIMOY, and Eric Idle, as well as the original voice talents of Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime) and Frank Welker (Megatron) from the series. I thought that the dialogue in the movie was also written extremely well with many memorable lines that are too numerous to mention here. The animation in the movie is also quite superb, particularly when contrasted with the animation in the TV series. The soundtrack for the movie is simply outstanding, particularly songs such as "The Touch" and "Dare", both performed by a little known rock artist named Stan Bush. The synthesizer-laden instrumental score was composed and performed by another little known rock artist named Vince DiCola, who also scored Rocky IV, and is perhaps one of the best instrumental scores for a movie that I've ever heard with the possible exception of John Williams' score for Star Wars. Although some of Vince DiCola's magnificent score is available on the movie soundtracks that have been released (check out the 2007 release for more of the score and an alternate version of the main Transformers theme), the availability of any full-length recordings of his score has been exclusively limited to people attending past Bot-Con conventions and even Mr. DiCola himself reports that he is unsure of any future releases of the score (although albums containing score demos and outtakes are available on his record studio website). Hopefully, a full recording of the soundtrack will be made available someday. I listen to the soundtrack quite frequently even nowadays and it is one of the few albums that never really get tired of listening to but, of course, I definitely wish that more of the score was available. A remix of "The Touch" by Stan Bush and a Transformers-inspired song called "Til All Are One" were recently included on Stan Bush's latest album (In This Life). Both of these songs are definitely worth downloading. There is not really too much about the movie that I didn't like other than the fact that it seemed like the directors killed off way too many Autobots (and not enough Decepticons), mostly classic first season characters (Ironhide, Ratchet, Brawn, Prowl, Wheeljack, Windcharger) and the movie was fairly limited in terms of the numbers of the characters, both Autobot and Decepticon, it showed considering the number of characters introduced throughout the series up to that point. Also, there were some continuity problems with the series although I don't really hold them against the movie. For instance, the Autobot Matrix of Leadership was never mentioned anytime during the series prior to the movie. Also, there was no explanation given for how the Decepticons ultimately conquered Cybertron, the existence of Cybertron's moons, and the creation of Autobot City. Optimus Prime's death was also really hard for me to deal with. How the writers thought that they could kill him off in the movie and NOT expect an angry backlash from ardent fans of the series is beyond me. It does help knowing (now anyway) that Optimus Prime DOES properly return towards the end of the 3rd season of the G1 series and is back in the truncated fourth season . However, when I was a kid, not knowing this, I remember being REALLY sad over his death and, in fact,I think that it was the only time I ever cried over a fictional character. Overall, I must say that Transformers The Movie is probably one of my all-time favorite movies, eclipsed perhaps only by the Star Wars movies and is one of the few movies that I've seen that I could easily watch several times without ever really getting tired of it. It is definitely recommended for anybody who enjoyed any of the Transformers series, particularly the G1 series that it is based on. Sci-fi and anime fans will almost certainly enjoy it as well. I gave this product as a Christmas present and got a fantastic response. I have watched it and it is great. The cartoon is a great review and just plain fun to watch before or after watching the new "Transformers" movie. DO ENJOY!!!! I assume if you're looking at this product, it's because you saw it back in the day, or you saw the new live-action movie (2007) and are catching up on old stuff. So for what it is, which is an old cartoon, put into a fairly ambitious cartoon movie for its time, it's awesome. If you're hoping to find something on par with the live-action movie, you'll be disappointed. I grew up with Transformers and saw the movie originally in the theater. I loved it. Sometimes when you go back to things like this, they aren't as good as you remember - this isn't the case. Yes, the dialogue is a little cheesy at times; yes, the plot is a little thin; but the artwork is great, and it's freakin' Transformers for crying out loud, and the story concept is pretty grand in scale. I recommend it for true fans of Transformers old and new. I just picked up the new live action transformers the other day, and, based on the reviews on this sight that claim the animated movie was even better, I picked the animated movie up as well. My family watched the live action movie last night (after having seen it in the theatres last summer,) and everyone loved it. We all -- my wife, daughter, son and myself -- thought it was fantastic. We watched the animated movie earlier tonight, and only my son liked it at all. My wife (who enjoys anima quite a bit) only needed a few minutes to decide it wasn't for her and left the room. My daughter got bored pretty quick, and came in and out of the room several times while the movie played, (although she did finally settle in for the end.) And while I watch a lot of animation and really enjoy good animated action, I was only able to force myself to watch about an hour of it with my son -- bored through all of it except the Optimus vs Megatron fight -- before giving up and finding other things to do in the room while the movie finished playing. My son liked it, but thought the live action movie was better. My daughter actually asked if we could watch the live action movie again after the animated movie while the animated movie was still playing. Every member of my family thought the live action movie was better. So I'm writing this review for people like myself who aren't caught up in the nostalgia of having loved this movie twenty years ago. While I give the movie credit for actually killing off characters and making changes to the mythology, only the Optimus vs Megatron fight entertained me at all, and much of the rest of the movie I thought was bad to terrible. I honestly regret having spent my money on this. The soundtrack (which during my quick look through the reviews I saw people praise) is the most over the top, oppressive, melodramatic soundtrack I have ever heard. It never stops. There is always music playing, every second, and 90% of it is up tempo cheesy eighties rock that's trying to drive the movie forward rather than letting anything build. It never lets up, and I found myself really wanting it to. 90% of the movie felt like that scene in every Rocky movie where Adrian's just given him her blessing and he goes into a music training montage to show how everything has come together and is positive and he's going to be ready for the fight. That scene shouldn't be sustained for an entire movie. The soundtrack shouldn't be that overpowering for an entire movie. At least in my opinion. And boy the music just sounds cheesy to me today. Orchestral music is far more timeless, and I think is a better way to go in most movies. There's also little to no characterization. The movie feels like the third movie in a trilogy where you are expected to know who everyone is and only the climax remains to be told. If you watched the series regularly and went straight from that to this, ok, but if -- like me -- you've only ever seen a few episodes of the show, most of the action and death mean nothing because you just don't care about the characters. And the plot just never seems to get any room to develop. In the first hour the characters go from Cyberton to Earth back to Cyberton back to Earth then crash land on two new planets on their way back to Cyberton yet again, with nonstop battles going on the entire time. Now as an action junky I never thought I'd say it, but I kept waiting for things to slow down a little and for some characterization, depth, and structure to be built up, but they never were. It was all action, and the action just didn't do anything for me because it seemed so arbitrary -- sometimes robots could shoot hundreds of shots and every shot would miss, other times a single shot would kill an enemy. The capabilities of the robots never really seemed to be set or determined, so you couldn't really feel any sense of tension or suspense. Honestly, I don't understand anyone thinking this was a better plotted, better written, better structured, more exciting, or more engaging movie than the new live action version -- and that's why I wrote this review. As someone who's not biased by "twenty years ago as a kid I really loved this movie," I gotta say I will never watch it again. I've seen the live action movie twice so far -- enjoying it quite a bit both times -- and I'm certain I will watch it again. The animated movie will very likely never be played in my house again, as only my son would have any interest in watching it, and even he liked the live action movie better. The live action movie seemed much more real -- and not just because it was live action with real actors -- but because it was written better, the character were introduced and developed better, and the action was better established and choreographed. I had to pop this in to remind myself on what a good Transformer movie is. This one stomps all over the remake. Human characters were still annoying but wasn't too important. Much better battles. Far better soundtrack. And better character personalities. This is Transformers to me and to alot of people. After watching this, michael bay's crapfest feels like nothing more than a bad dream. In the year 2005 the Autobots and the Decepticons are still locked in battle but a deadly new force enters the fray--a giant killer planet known as Unicron. The heroic Autobots must fight for their own survival and to save their home planet from destruction. A classic of 1980s animation based on the popular TV series.System Requirements:Running Time 300 Mins.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: ANIMATION/ADULT SWIM Rating: PG UPC: 828768307991 Manufacturer No: 30799 During the 1980s, one cartoon series ruled the airwaves...The Transformers. This paragon of consumerism was created with a dual purpose--to entertain and to galvanize children to buy the toys. Somewhere along the line, the show became a cult favorite, so in 1986 they fashioned an epic tale of good versus evil specifically for the big screen. The result looked vaguely like an animated remake of Star Wars. Who are the Transformers? The good guys are the Autobots: Optimus Prime, SoundWave, Jazz, Ultra Magnus, and many more. Their mortal enemies are the evil Decepticons, led by Megatron and StarScream. The Autobots must save their home planet from an evil entity known as Unicron (voiced by Orson Welles). At the same time, they must defend themselves from an all-out attack from the Decepticons. Along the way, lives are lost, battles are fought, and a new Autobot leader is born as another dies. The story and action never stop in a thrilling ride that often makes you forget that you're watching an '80s cartoon with inferior graphics. The violence will also come as a mild shock to those who haven't seen this film for a while--definitely a movie for the 8 and over audience. For those who grew up on this series, this is a movie that must be watched. Unlike cartoon serials before and after,The Transformersrelied on solid stories and interesting characters, a manifesto the film itself upholds with gusto and grace while also being morally responsible. Don't underestimate this movie; there is definitely more to it than meets the eye.--Jeremy Storey Rerations < The Transformers - The Movie (20th Anniversary Special Edition) > < Voltron - Defender of the Universe - Collection One: Blue Lion > < Transformers Cybertron - Robots in Disguise, A New Beginning > < Transformers: The Ultimate Guide: The Ultimate Guide (Transformers) > < Voltron - Defender of the Universe - Collection Two > freaks B Stylin, B In Tune, B Connected, with Barbie Girls!Your Barbie Girls device is a next-generation fashion doll and stylish MP3 player all in oneConnect her to your computer to unlock tons of new features on BarbieGirls.com, including special fashions, furniture, accessories, pets, and access to Club Beauty!Your Barbie Girl comes with a second fashion, adjustable-sized earbuds, belt clip, docking station, registration CD, and reusable storage case512MB memory, expandable miniSD slot up to 2GB. Got it for my 6 yr old niece. The first one had a problem with the USB connection. Player would turn off when connected to the computer and I wasnt able to add songs. Amazon sent a replacement. Hopefully this one doesnt have problems. Sound quality is ok, but I guess it wouldnt matter to a 6 yr old. She enjoys it. Havent used the barbie girls online features yet. Bought this for my 5 year old daughter but wasn't sure how she would like it. She loves it and takes it everywhere. Loading songs was easy. It is very easy for her to use. She is an attention getter everywhere she takes it. The only negative is the earplugs. As will all MP3 players, the ear buds are the biggest problem. We ended up just buying normal headphones to use. This is a great first MP3 for the 5 to 9 year old set. You can accessorize it with the little clip on fashions. It holds an impressive amount of songs for the price and the software worked well. We don't use the online feature, but maybe older girls would. It is a sturdy player that is fun without being overly babyish. Perfect for young girls. We got all the accessory sets on close out so it is two toys in one. My daughter requested this from Santa. She loves it. She has had so much fun listening to music and audio books. We homeschool, so I load audio books and lessons onto the player for her to listen to and it is a fun way for her to get in a lesson. The online world seems to be lots of fun for her too. Educationally, earning money and not running out or planning for a certian product for your Barbie Girl online is good experience for future budgeting. The little clothes and items that snap on and off are easy for her to munipulate. The only complaint has to do with the ear buds. They broke at the base/plug after a week. My daughter was either pulling them in and out of the player with too much force OR they were poorly made. She has replaced them and has had no problems with the other ear buds. I love the fact that the box it comes in turns into a storage case for all the little snap on features, the cd and other extras so everything stays in one place and nothing gets lost as some of the snap on features are tiny. Overall, this has been a wonderful toy for my 9 year old. My daughter loves this MP3 player. We haven't done much of the online stuff with it, we just haven't got that far yet, so I can't comment about that. However, she loves music and wanted an ipod for Christmas, but being only 6 yrs old, I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on an expensive ipod. This is perfect for her, she listens to it every day. And she calls it her ipod! BARBIE GIRLSTM Assortment B Stylin, B In Tune, B Connected, with Barbie GirlsTM! It is very annoying to hear the same two or three bars of an already constantly heard song. This was a Christmas gift, but I haven't seen or heard my daughter playing with this much. My 6yo dd loves playing with this doll. She loves wearing the bracelet that came with it. My only complaint would be the back of her head is lacking hair...but that didn't make a difference with my little girl. She loves it. The doll sings very loud, which was surprising, but at least it's only a small portion of the song. I imagine that we will be collecting ALL the Hannah dolls now... My daughter begged for this doll, and it had to sing this particular song. So why in the world do I get the one where the batteries are dead and that use some sort of watch battery that I can't find. I just don't understand why the batteries are already dead. Was one of Amazon's employees playing with it in the warehouse? Otherwise she's really cute, and not cut to the proportions of Barbie at all.My daughter had a really hard time finding clothes in Barbie's wardrobe that would fit her. "Mommy, was is Hannah so much fatter than Barbie?" LOL The girls loved the dolls. I didn't find the singing that clear or easy to understand but the kids didn't find that a problem. They already knew the songs. My 10 year daughter is Hannah Montana crazy. She liked the toy a lot. I did have a problem with the original order. I received the first doll and she did not sing. I don't know if it was the battery or a defect but I emailed Amazon with the problem and they shipped me a replacement the very next day. They also sent an envelope for me to return the original doll. This Hannah Doll is dressed up for an electrifying performance and ready to rock the stage. Press a button to hear her sing her hit song, "The Other Side of Me." Includes Hannah doll in authentic outfits from T.V. show, Hannah Montana, microphone, poster and backstage pass. First of all, this toy looks very little like the Megatron that was in the movie. It is stubby and stocky and presents none of the lethal intent the movie character does. The vehicle mode only slightly looks like the vehicle from the movie, and the transformation is much harder than it should be considering the results. In robot mode this toy is hard to pose and unstable when standing. The feet do not support the toy except in a very narrow range of poses. The toys hands are useless and do not even look like hands, they cannot hold any of the other toys weapons or anything else. The "Chain whip" is kind of neat, and a nice nod to the original Transformer's cartoon character, but was not featured in the movie. His hand supposedly combine to form a "Fusion Cannon" but it looks nothing like the movie version. Also, the gun doesn't stay open without holding it open. The arms have a lot of kibble in the form of the "nose" of the plane, which serves no purpose in robot mode. The lights and sound gimmick it only OK. The Scream kind of make sense for this toy, but the yellow lights do not (blue lights for the ice, maybe?). The lights and sound gimmick add weight and bulk to what should be a fairly thin figure. In Vehicle mode, the legs fold under the wings, making them look blocked up instead of like wings. Also the "tail" of the aircraft doesn't really lock into place and can flop around if touched. If the tail flops it tends to knock the legs free from their pegs on the wings. The wings are meant to unfold automatically, but this never fully worked on my toy. They unfold, but never fully without me having to push them down until the gear locks (there is a visible white gear on the wing hinges). Also the head is completely visible while in vehicle mode. The arms form the front of the plane, but again do not lock together well and come apart easily. All in all this toy suffers from a lot of the same problems many other movie transformer toys suffer from. The character was designed for the movie first with no thought to how the toy would work, and the toy suffered from it. My son is only 5 but he's dying to get his hands on this toy. He doesn't want to convert it to a plane, he just wants to get Bumblebee and Optimus Prime together to kick his butt!!! It's over-priced sure, but for the 30 minutes my son will take to destroy it....why the heck not. Yea, my kid is spoiled. He's all about Bumblebee anyhow! Bought this for my 3 1/2 year old for Christmas and he really likes it. He isn't able to transform it yet on his own so do not buy it for a child under 8 unless you enjoy doing the transforming! It is sturdy and amazingly detailed though. Very impressive engineering! Well worth the money. Received it quick-on time for Christmas, my 5 year old loves it, plays with it still!! It's a little cumbersome to figure out what all it transforms into and the pieces come off that can get lost easily but all in all, great toy, keeps him occupied!! Transformers Movie Leader Megatron This product is really awesome. Difficult to transform to vehicle mode, but then that's part of the fun. Don't buy it for your young kid though. It's for older kids like me (30). I'd recommend for any Transformer fan though. Overall it is well worth it. Megatron is a towering, bulky, dinosaur-footed monstrosity with a varied color schemenoticeably different than that of the movie version. Megatronâs jet mode looks a little bit like one of Leonardo da Vinciâs flying machines. His robot mode, bearing a slightly simplified version of the movie Megatronâs intricate armor plating, is reasonably well articulated. Among Megatronâs arsenal of gimmick features are electronic sounds and lights, alaunching claw that becomes a chain whip, and arms that combine to form a fusion cannon. Initially Megatron was Cybertronâs designated Lord High Protector, although eventually he succumbed to his consuming lust for the Allspark. Megatronâs agenda placed him in opposition of Optimus Prime---forcingthe latter to rally a militia against Megatronâs Decepticons. Megatron was single-minded and monstrously powerful; the Decepticons gained ground against their adversaries, and as a desperate contingency the Allspark was jettisoned into space. Megatronâs attempt to find the Allspark ultimately divided him from his forces and led him into frozen stasis. My son really enjoyed putting it together. Not meant to be durable, but not cheap at all. Good for developing instruction-reading and building skills. My son loves this model so much that he now has three of them. They are pretty simple to build. They are fun for the kids to play with after constructed, and the walking action is pretty good. The "Star Wars" themed LEGO people are a nice touch and my favorite thing about this series of models. This a great model of the Galactic Empire's AT-ST. It is surprisingly detailed - with a lot of neat features like the ability to swivel the cockpit and the gun ports. The cockpit also opens up to reveal an Imperial trooper, complete with an assualt rifle to defend himself from those nasty Rebels! This will make a superb addition to any collection of Lego Star Wars sets. There is only one minor complaint - although the legs can be moved, the model will only stand upright (in a stable posture) in the one single default position for the legs. But, that's really allright if you are buying it to be more of a model rather than a toy. First putting together was a chore. Instructions leave a lot to be desired. Then you have to be kidding to think you could ever own this and and actually touch it. It falls apart constantly. Tried to crazy glue.It fell and shattered. R.I.P. Lego AT-ST. I just purchased this redesigned AT-ST from a local retail store. For the basic price of $20 for 244 pieces, this set is well worth the price. I purchased the original AT-ST years ago and this model far surpasses that one in all ways. It's larger, much more stable, and has a unique pivoting mechanism which rotates the cab. It was very difficult to get the original AT-ST to stand upright without falling over; the 7657 is extremely stable. The original AT-ST had Chewbacca at the controls which was pretty cool. However, not as cool as the AT-ST driver that has a new helmet and blaster. The only drawback is that his minifig head is flesh colored instead of traditional LEGO yellow. It took about 20 minutes to put the model together. It wasn't very challenging but interesting to see how the rotating mechanism was put together. I would highly recommend purchasing this set. For the low price of $20 for such a detailed and complete set, it's well worth the price. You won't be disappointed. It is good for role playing as kids re-enact scenes, sing songs, and dance using the choreography from the movie. Inspired by the Disney movie High School Musical 2, this ultra-cool Ryan doll wears an outfit featured in the film. Ryan Evans is Sharpays twin brother. Also comes with a super-sweet beach outfit: board shorts, a red T-shirt and blue flip-flops. He likes hats. Ryan is played by Lucas Grabeel. Approx 11 1/2" fashion doll. I don't know enough about Barbies to be able to tell which body they're using for HSM but it's on the slim side- possibly a new body type which suits the high school age of these guys. That was something I noticed as lacking in the initial HSM dolls released- attempts at likenesses and quality clothes. The first has been improved on, the second not as much. Ryan's got a much better likeness than Chad but I have seen Mattel make better jeans in the past. Ryan comes with much more pink than I ever though a boy doll could but it's charming, almost Gatsby-esque. And he comes with a nice red shirt for a day at Disneyland. The hat's sewn on and made of plastic but I don't think it would look as nice in fabric, based on the jeans. If you are looking for this item, he seems to ship one per case with Sharpay and Gabriella- although he can be found in a two=pack with his sister (same clothes) or a 4-pack (wearing a different outfit) sold at Target.
