And we decided to watch it together. I have long since hated Anime, but this is now a exception. It is truly a great series, and I am very disappointed that there is not more. There is much humor, character development, seriousness, etc...Its just a great series, I strongly recommend you buy it! Well like i said with this awesome release many people (like myself) have been very pleased. I was really dreading having to buy each of the individual sessions wich would have cost upwards of $140. Or supporting bootleggers some where by buying "The Perfect Session" box set which from what i understand is out of print. But this is the best of both worlds Its a legit release that contains everything you would want from a Cowboy Bebop box set and it only sets you back about $40. Just a side note I know some one was kinda upset that the box was so plain, but who buys a dvd based on the box? But anywho all in all its a great quality product for a great price, definately worth the buy. Look up the word `cool' in any dictionary and it says "see Cowboy Bebop"...well, not really...but it should, because Cowboy Bebop is the quintessence of coolness. If you don't already know, Bebop is a stylish 26-session masterpiece chronicling the thrilling triumphs and tribulations of those space-sailing, chain-smoking, bounty-hunting buddies, Jet Black and Spike Spiegel. Jet is a bald and burly bonsai tree collector with an artificial left arm and a comma-shaped piece of metal under his scarred right eye. A former ISSP officer--known on his home satellite, Ganymede, as the tenacious "Black Dog"--Jet is now the owner/pilot/mechanic of the spaceship Bebop. The wiry gunfighter and martial arts master, Spike, has fuzzy green hair, mismatched eyes and a checkered past. These two intrepid space "cowboys" hop from one astral gate to another to hunt down wanted criminals all across the galaxy, hoping to earn enough woolongs to enable Jet to finally add some actual beef to his famous "Bell Peppers and Beef" stir-fry. In Session 2, Spike and Jet rescue a Welsh Corgi "data-dog" named Ein from the notorious pet thief, Abdul Hakim. In Session 3, they meet up with an unscrupulous Blackjack dealer who turns out to be the infamous yellow-clad femme fatale, Faye Valentine. And in Session 9, they meet an androgynous red-headed net-diver with an occasionally invisible nose who calls herself Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky, IV. Only by working together can this motley little crew of hungry hunters overcome the ruthless gangsters, senile chess players, broken showers, biting mutants and bad mushrooms that stand in their way as they attempt to nab the endless lineup of bad guys profiled daily on Punch and Judy's Big Shot television show. Cowboy Bebop showcases phenomenal jazz music and exquisitely detailed animation that perfectly captures the mean streets and spaceways of a future world that's simultaneously strange and familiar, with technology that's grungy and realistic (like the hardware of the original Star Wars trilogy) and a uniquely multi-cultural cornucopia of characters. Unlike most animes, Bebop is primarily episodic, so the shows can be enjoyed individually, without requiring the viewer to watch the entire series in one sitting. My personal favorite is the suspense-filled horror spoof, "Toys In the Attic," which opens with red-tinged video footage of a dingy tunnel, reminiscent of the long-forgotten Sega CD game, Sewer Shark. The "Remix" of Cowboy Bebop allows you to hear the unforgettably exhilarating opening theme, Tank! (as well as the rest of the exquisitely-scored soundtrack), in speaker-rattling Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. This affordably-priced Anime Legends set collects the entire Bebop series (not the movie) on six colorfully silk-screened DVDs. A plethora of special features are included, among them: three English-language trailers for Cowboy Bebop on DVD; four Cartoon Network promos; interviews with Wendee Lee, the voice of Faye Valentine and Cartoon Network producer, Sean Akins; subtitled commentary on Session 1 with the Japanese voices of Spike and Jet, Koichi Yamadera and Unshou Ishizuka; commentary on Session 5 and 10 with Wendee Lee and ADR producer, Yutaka Maseba; a laughter-filled commentary on Session 17 with director, Shinichiro Watanabe, and legendary composer, Yoko Kanno; Session 24 commentary with the Japanese Faye, Megumi Hayashibara, and the Japanese Ed, Aoi Tada; a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Cowboy Bebop, called Session 0; plus a music video featuring the full-length version of Tank! Audio options consist of the aforementioned Dolby Digital 5.1 mix in both English and Japanese, as well as the original English and Japanese Stereo tracks. The ONLY downside to this release is that all six discs are awkwardly crowded into one plastic keepcase, each held in place with tiny tabs that are easily broken. Shucks howdy, this is an anime collection that would even satisfy those crotchety old geezers, Antonio, Carlos, and Jobim. So come out of your cryogenic sleep and order yours today! Highly recommended to all animation fans, cop show fans, jazz enthusiasts and corgi owners. "Once the channel is set, you will no longer be able to escape!" I find most anime boring. I had friends recommend this to me for years and I never got on board because I have seen a lot of bad anime and so I was very skeptical. Finally, I wanted something new to watch and they talked me into buying it because it was cheep. I love it. I think it is clever, witty, and exciting. The acting is convincing and the episodic stories also help to build character, not just kill time. I would recommend this to anyone who likes in depth stories with fun characters, action, and an amazing sound track packed into each 30 minute episodes. Without a doubt one of the best anime series of all times. Every episode is worth watching again and again. Ed's unconventional cuteness alone is worth buying this set. You get sad that the series is ending three or four episodes before the last. And thank goodness for an ending that wasn't spawned by traditionalist thinking. One of my all time favorites. The crew of the Bebop is once again ready to take control of space bringing bad guys to justice and trying to make some cash while doing it. Join the always cool Spike investigative genius Jet the fabulous Faye the amazing (but weird) Ed and the super-smart Welsh Corgi named Ein as they try to make a buck in the year 2071. How do they do it? They re bounty hunters. But then again you probably wouldn t be reading this if you didn t already know that...Now for the first time in North America the entire Cowboy Bebop Remix series in one package!!! They use the 4 different types of martial arts for each bending style, and I think that's pretty cool. The discs look awesome and the show looks better. The day this arrived, I couldn't stop watching it. I was mesmerized by the simple yet strong storyline. It's made for kids, but I wonder how many children actually know what's going on. The first day this set was in my possession, I informed myself that I may need to order Book 2 sooner than I'd anticipated. Avatar is amazing. Avatar is exceptionally written, perhaps the best animated series ever to air in America. It's so good that acclaimed Director, M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN,(The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, The Village, The Happening) called it, "The coolest mythology I've ever seen," and put his own screenwriting on hold to spend the next six years producing/directing a BIG-SCREEN LIVE-ACTION TRILOGY of this story. Adults may find the occasional comic relief a bit cheesy, but will love the character development, psychological depth, mythos, realistic martial arts, "special effects", and the excellent insights into Asian philosophy, sociology, and mythology, and even politics. I've been studying Asian culture and philosophy and teaching in Asia for years and I've gained insights from this series because the writers have found ways to introduce and explain Asian thought so simply that even kids can "get it". Ideas like chakras, Daoism, and Chinese philosophy of the balance and properties of the natural Elements are brought to life and illustrated in the characters lives, situations, and cultural settings. I bought this to watch my nephews (though I often watch it when they're not here too) and I think it's awesome because as they grow up in an increasingly Asian world, I think what they were exposed to in this show will make Asian culture (Chinese, Tibetan, Japanese, Indian, Korean) much more accessible and comprehensible to them than it was to me when I studied it. Don't the the animation fool you, this series is EPIC MYTHOLOGY of exceptional crafting, on par with STAR WARS and LORD OF THE RINGS. Mesmerizingly ENTERTAINING and uniquely EDUCATIONAL! With or without kids, you'll LOVE it! I've been a fan of Nickleodeon cartoons since I was ten, and I am presently twenty-five. As an Anime fan, I can say that most American attempts to emulate Anime are very disappointing. Avatar, however, is a masterpiece. It's perfect for all ages, has great writing and voice acting, and has little to no filler; every episode has tons of content. The Bending Styles in the series (Air, Water, Earth, and Fire) are based on actual martial arts, which is evident in how they meticulously animate the character's movements. Everyone should watch this series, it's absolutely amazing. I got started on this show because of my 5 year old son. He was watching it one day and it seemed interesting so I sat down to watch it and from then on I'm HOOKED. I thought it would be a cartoon for kids only but it's very much for adults too. I wanted to watch it from the beginning so I decided to buy both book 1 and book 2 collections. I also bought the book 3 fire volume 1&2 and I'm also going to buy the book 3 volume 3 in may! You wont be disappointed =). And you will be addicted. You will probably try to watch it all in one night. This is almost as good as Prison Break lol THIS SERIES IS GREAT. IT'S MARKETED AS AN ANIME FOR KIDS ON NICKOLODEON BUT i KNOW SEVERAL ADULTS WHO ENJOY WATCHING IT WITH THEIR KIDS. CHECK IT OUT ON NICKTOONS AND IF YOU LIKE IT, BUY THEM ALL AT ONCE, BECAUSE YOU WON'T WANT TO WAIT FOR THE NEXT SEASON TO ARRIVE AFTER YOU FINISH THE FIRST ONE. At one time or another, over thousands of years, the Avatar has been embodied in masters of each of the elements. Aang (who is freed from a century-long sleep inside an iceberg) happens to be an "airbender," capable of using air and wind as powerful forces for moving objects and defeating hostile armies of firebenders. The feature-lengthAvatarfollows Aang and a couple of friends as he becomes reacquainted with the world he knew before his 100-year hibernation--a world now lost to history. The story also concerns internal dramas within the unforgiving world of firebenders, who are intent on destruction and conquest. This engaging story, very pleasant to look at in its rich tones of blue and orange, is for all ages.--Tom Keogh Book 1: Water, Vol. 2 Book 1: Water, Vol. 3 Book 1: Water, Vol. 4 Book 1: Water, Vol. 5 Rerations < Avatar The Last Airbender - The Complete Book 1 Collection > < Avatar The Last Airbender - The Complete Book 2 Collection > < Avatar The Last Airbender - Book 3 Vol 1 > < Avatar The Last Airbender - Book 3 Fire, Vol 2 > < Avatar The Last Airbender - Book 2 Earth, Vol. 1 > freaks < Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda: Slipstream Collection > < Stargate Atlantis - The Complete Third Season > < Stargate - The Ark of Truth > < Stargate SG-1 - Season 10 > < Babylon 5 - The Lost Tales > < Stargate Atlantis - The Complete Second Season > price:A.D.V. The resulting show could not have been a more perfect blend of sci-fi and action, in my opinion. The show starts off showcasing brilliant special effects, and incredibly deep plot. From the first episode, the series grips the viewer and immerses them within a world of intrigue and deception. Our "hero" for this story is Kevin Sorbo (of Hercules), and seems to be a perfect fit. As the story unfolds and the episodes roll by, the secondary characters come to life with deep development for each and every person. Quickly it feels like there is no "lead" character as much as the entire crew of the Andromeda is the "main" character, and with each of the parts being played so well by so many talented actors this is no surprise. I believe that almost anybody could enjoy Andromeda, it's probably one of the Sci-Fi genre's best kept secrets. To try and put a label on it is difficult, as the universe within Andromeda is a perfect blend of dark and gritty reality, heroic and impossibly daring deeds, and a strong human compassion and character driven story. Definitely worth viewing if you're a fan of science fiction in general. excellent set, incredible price from Amazon, great shipping time, I'm very impressed with the service and of course more than happy with the DVDs. I just finished watching this entire series, and I have to say I'm very disappointed. I had read the basic plot synopsis on wikipedia, and I was intrigued and in the market for a new sci-fi series. I hadn't seen any of Andromeda on TV, so bought this set to give it a shot. Upon reflection, it wasn't worth the time to watch it. I kept hoping that the writing would improve, but it didn't. The initial setting and plot - a super-advanced warship essentially slipping forward in time to a sci-fi dark age - is an awesome concept. But the stories never lived up to their potential, and some episodes had some fairly mind boggling inconsistencies with one another. The acting, I thought, was fine, and the special effects were fairly good for a TV Sci fi series. The DVDs are well packaged with plenty of extras. These elements of the show made me rate the series with two stars, instead of one. I will note that this DVD set has the annoying penchant for putting only 2-3 episodes per disk, when they could easily fit 4-5 and cut down on space. As noted by another reviewer, though, they do use thinpaks, so there is that. If you're looking for a good sci fi fix, I really recommend you look elsewhere, as this series was disappointing. This is awesome, a must for any sci-fi fan. The actors really put their all into this. The quality of the characters, writing and effects is superb. I picked up Andromeda on a whim. I had heard good things about the series, and I thought I would give it a try - especially with how cheaply I was getting off buying this set. I have to say that I really liked the series. I found my self itching to see the next episode. I have to admit, as I watched, I read a little off some of the forums out of interest in the show and why things went the way they did. I have to agree that in the 5th season (and tail-end of the 4th season) the show changed direction, but when all is said and done, I really liked the series, and I find myself sad that I am done with it. Who knows, maybe I will pick up one of the books and see how they are... The explosive final season of one of the most beloved science fiction TV series of all time! Now he must face his greatest challenge understanding his own past and ultimate destiny.
